Mercy Muchai is a Research Engineer at the Microsoft Research Africa, Nairobi Lab (opens in new tab) (formerly MARI). She guides the end-to-end AI/ML engineering processes within the Nairobi research lab. Her current work focuses on building Globally Equitable AI models and tools with a focus on Generative AI for underrepresented communities and NLP for low resource languages. She is passionate about driving innovation that is inclusive, rethinking the Future of Work in Africa and the Global majority. Muchai is also a Computer Science graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin. (opens in new tab)
