Ada Workshop is named after Countess Ada Lovelace, who created the world’s first algorithm for a computing machine and became the first computer programmer. Nearly two centuries later, women have become a minority in this field where they were once pioneers.

To inspire, empower, and provide professional growth opportunities for promising young women, Microsoft Research Asia launched the Ada Workshop series in 2016. Over the past nine years, we have held annual Ada Workshops and collaborated with over 10 major universities in Asia to conduct more than 30 events, reaching tens of thousands of female students both online and offline.

This Ada Workshop will be held in Tokyo, Japan, following the opening of Microsoft Research Asia – Tokyo in November 2024, with the theme “Future Forward” in collaboration with distinguished partners.

• Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025
• Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Workshop) 12:40 PM – 2:00 PM (Networking & Office Tour)
• Location: Microsoft Japan Shinagawa Headquarters Building
• Participants: University students, graduate students (young researchers, faculty, staff, etc.)

This workshop will focus on the following points:

• Career Support for Female Students: Encouraging careers in information technology, computer science, and AI fields, as well as supporting careers in graduate and doctoral programs.
• Introduction to Latest Research and Technology: Providing opportunities to learn about various interesting research and technologies in the field, while understanding the importance and significance of research activities.
• Introduction to Diverse Career Paths: Learning about various career paths and understanding that there are many options available.
• Learning from Experiences: Gaining insights from the thoughts and experiences of various individuals to benefit career development.

Listening to and directly interacting with researchers, faculties, and seniors with diverse experiences will help navigate careers and paths in information technology, computer science, and AI fields.

Ada Workshopは、世界初の計算機用アルゴリズムを作成し、最初のコンピュータプログラマーとなった伯爵夫人、エイダ・ラブレスにちなんで名付けられました。それから約2世紀後となる現在、かつて女性が先駆者であったこの分野で、女性は少数派となっています。

将来有望な次世代を担う女性にインスピレーション、自信、そして専門的な成長の機会を提供するため、マイクロソフトリサーチアジアは2016年にAda Workshopシリーズを開始しました。過去9年間、毎年Ada Workshopを開催し、さらに、アジアの10以上の主要大学と協力して30以上のイベントも実施し、オンラインおよびオフラインで数万人の女子学生にリーチしてきました。

このAda Workshopを、2024年11月にMicrosoft Research Asia – Tokyoがオープンした日本(東京)で、開催パートナーのみなさんと共に、「未来へ前進」をテーマに、実施します。

• 場所：日本マイクロソフト・品川本社ビル
• 参加者対象：大学生、大学院生（若手研究者、教員、職員など）

このワークショップでは、以下のポイントに焦点を当てます：

• 女子学生のキャリア支援：情報系、コンピューターサイエンス、AI分野でのキャリア、大学院や博士課程のキャリアを応援します
• 最新の研究や技術の紹介：分野でのさまざまなおもしろい研究や技術を知る機会を提供します。同時に、研究の大切さを知り、研究活動の意義を深めます
• 多様なキャリアパスの紹介：さまざまなキャリアパスを知り、キャリアにさまざまな選択肢があることを学びます
• 経験からの学び：いろいろな人の思いや経験から学び、キャリアに役立つ洞察を得ます

さまざまな経験を持つ研究者、教員、先輩たちからの共有を聞き、直接対話する機会が、情報系、コンピューターサイエンス、AI分野での活躍やキャリアパスをナビゲートするでしょう。
