Speaker Details
I am Assistant Professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Southern California, and Associate Director of the CAIS Center for Artificial Intelligence in Society. Prior to joining USC, I was lecturer in the Operations Research and Statistics Group at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a postdoctoral research associate in the Operations Research Center at MIT. I hold a PhD degree in Operations Research and an MEng degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, both from Imperial College London.
Prior to my PhD, I spent several years working in investment banking at JPMorgan and BNP Paribas in business unit relationship management and risk management advisory. During my postdoc I consulted for BP and MIT Sloan, using optimization and analytics to improve decision-making in energy and education.
My current research interests lie at the interface of optimization and analytics. My objective as a researcher is to use data to improve the way practitioners make decisions in socially important areas such as healthcare, security, biodiversity preservation, education, and energy.
