Launched in July 2025, Microsoft Research Asia – Singapore is Microsoft’s first research lab in Southeast Asia, established to advance fundamental and applied AI research, co-develop transformative AI solutions for key industries, and cultivate the next generation of AI talent across the region.

As a key node in Microsoft’s global research network, the Singapore lab focuses on three goals:

• Deploy industry-transforming AI
• Pursue frontier breakthroughs in AI foundations
• Advance responsible, socially beneficial applications

Building on two decades of collaboration with Singapore’s research community, the Singapore lab will continue working closely with leading institutions in Singapore to advance fundamental and applied research, while nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and tech talent.
