Microsoft Active Protections Program

Empowering Security Providers to Protect Customers Together

The Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), led by the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) is a trusted partnership program designed to help defensive security providers deliver timely, effective protections to customers in conjunction with Microsoft’s Update Tuesday.

By sharing detection guidance ahead of Microsoft’s Update Tuesday, MAPP enables partners to proactively develop protections against vulnerabilities and deploy those to endpoint security agents, intrusion prevention systems, and managed services before threats can be exploited in the wild.

The Importance of MAPP

Cyber threats evolve rapidly. MAPP helps level the playing field by giving partners a head start on building defenses. Together, we create a stronger, more resilient ecosystem for all Microsoft customers.

How It Works

  • Early Access: Partners receive guidance before Microsoft’s Update Tuesday release.

  • Actionable Guidance: This guidance includes technical details and supporting system artifacts, and occasionally proof-of-concept tools.

  • Collaborative Defense: Partners use this data to create and deploy protections and share telemetry back with Microsoft to improve collective threat visibility.
