Microsoft and 42 CityNext solution partners to showcase innovations at SCEWC 2015
As urban representatives from around the globe gather at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19, they’ll be looking for new and innovative smart city solutions. And as exhibitors and speakers at the event, we at Microsoft are excited to showcase a wide range of offerings that will help cities lead the urban transformation.
This year’s SCEWC theme is “Innovation to Inspire and Implement,” and that’s exactly what we will show—innovation to inspire. Sharing our own expertise and those of our partners, we will showcase some of the latest technology and insights that will bring about safer, smarter, and more sustainable cities. Delegates will be able to see demos of innovative solutions from dozens of Microsoft CityNext partners, learn how Microsoft mobile solutions can be used to create more efficient, responsive government, and hear Microsoft’s perspective on a wide range of smart city topics. Our showcase will include:
Partner demonstrations. Forty-one Microsoft CityNext partners will demonstrate groundbreaking smart city solutions spanning a wide range of categories from energy and water, to public safety, to the Internet of Things. These solutions, from a select group of our CityNext partners, represent a staggering amount of innovation that should not be missed. Talk about innovation to inspire and implement!
Windows Device Bar. Microsoft will host a Windows Device Bar that showcases a broad range of phones, tablets, and laptops from our partners and Lumia and Surface Pro from Microsoft, demonstrating how governments can leverage mobile devices to engage citizens in novel ways. In the new mobile, cloud-based, data-first world, governments have the opportunity to transform their operations using connected, mobile experiences, and we’re excited to show participants how.
Speaker forums. From privacy, to sustainability and quality of life Microsoft executives will participate in discussions spanning some of the most pressing smart city topics. These include:
- “More Equitable Cities with Better Quality of Life” – Toni Townes-Whitely, Corporate Vice President of the Worldwide Public Sector at Microsoft (Wednesday, 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Auditorium, PL 04)
- “Privacy in the Smart City” – Wismar Medina, Industry Managing Director for Local & Regional Government, Worldwide Public Sector at Microsoft (Wednesday, 3 p.m.-4:15 p.m., Room 4, TE 45)
- “Solutions for Sustainable Urban Living” – Kathryn Willson, Director, Microsoft CityNext, Worldwide Public Sector (Wednesday, 1:45 p.m.-3 p.m., Room 2, ST 24)
- “Data Solutions to Improve Urban Mobility” – Bismart, Microsoft Worldwide Partner of the Year in Business Intelligence and Big Data (Thursday, 1:45 p.m.-3 p.m., Room 5, MO 57)
SCEWC 2015 promises to be an inspiring event, one that will stimulate new levels of urban transformation, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. As thought leader, Sergio Fernandex de Cordova, effectively said, “residents of urban areas are the driving force behind city development as they push for smarter, more connected and adaptive places to live” – this is exactly what Microsoft CityNext and our partners are looking forward to discussing with civic leaders at SCEWC.
We hope to see you there! To learn more, please see our SCEWC event page and follow @MSFTCityNext on Twitter for smart city news and trends.
